Who is la bellenergie ?

la bellenergie is a French green energy supplier based in Toulon. It is a subsidiary of Energie Steiermark, Austria’s second largest energy group. Formerly known as Electricité de Provence, the supplier rebranded as la bellenergie in 2022 after being acquired by Energie Steiermark. The company focuses on providing 100% green and French electricity to residential, business, and public sector clients.

The company originated from Hydroption’s Électricité de Provence brand in 2017, which was later sold to Energie Steiermark following Hydroption’s bankruptcy in 2023. All la bellenergie teams are located in Toulon, and the management is led by Jean-Brice Piquet-Gauthier and Augustin Couette.

As of mid-2025, la bellenergie serves over 100,000 customers and employs around 75 people. It offers products for both individuals and business clients (the latter through its dedicated subsidiary LBE Business). About 30% of its residential customers are supplied with electricity that meets the French VertVolt label criteria, with the rest covered by standard Guarantee of Origin certificates.

la bellenergie is engaged in the sustainable energy transition and aims to reach 250,000 to 500,000 clients by 2030. The company has developed a mobile application, available since August 2025, enabling customers to manage contracts, monitor consumption, and complete various administrative tasks.
