Moving in a new home in France
Here is a short and precise guide of what to do regarding electricity and natural gas when you move in France :
- Call our English-speaking service Selectra at 09 87 67 37 93 (or +33 9 87 67 37 93 from abroad ; free callback) to subscribe an electricity contract and, if needed, a natural gas contract. Make sure to find out what energy is used for heating / water heating / cooking in your home in order to determine whether you need a natural gas contract or not. We will help you pick the right offer and the right supplier for your new home.
- Ideally, try to call with a meter reading and French bank account details.
- If electricity has been cut, then a technician will be sent to reactivate service. Note that energy can be cut any moment if the previous occupant of your home already cancelled his/her contract. It is important that you subscribe as quickly as possible to avoid a sudden power cut.
